Huddersfield Town has teamed up with local business partner Fired Up to deliver a football coaching programme for children in China!
It’s the eighth year that Town have joined forces with the Huddersfield-based company with two of Town Foundation’s coaches set to go out to Nantou, Zhongshan, later this year – a place in which Fired Up have a large manufacturing presence.
The camp is operated in collaboration with Nantou Town Government who provide the facilities for HTAFC’s coaches to run the sessions, whilst Fired Up offer the local support. Joey He and two volunteer translators will also join the Town Foundation coaches in order to help the camp run to the best of its ability.
The programme has run for a number of years with this year’s seeing 200 children being coached by Town Foundation’s Luke Smith and Adam Rawlings across the seven-week programme.
Participants will be split into groups of 40 based upon ability, with each child enjoying between three and four sessions per week.
At the end of the camp, the attendees will have the opportunity to showcase the skills they have learned and participate in a ‘mini World Cup’ after which a closing ceremony will take place where achievements from across the seven weeks will be recognised through a series of certificates, prizes and awards.
Huddersfield Town’s Commercial Director Sean Jarvis commented:
“We are delighted to be sending two of our Town Foundation coaches out to China again this year. Fired Up are great supporters of the Club and we are grateful once again for this opportunity.
“We know that they also have a large presence in the Nantou area so it will be great for us to go over and give something back to that local community.
“Being a part of the programme also allows us to continue growing the Huddersfield Town brand on a worldwide scale which is a fantastic opportunity for us as a club.”
Richard Kaye, Managing Director at Fired Up added:
“Fired Up take very seriously the responsibility we have to the areas in which we operate and are proud to support Huddersfield Town and the coaching programme in Nantou.
“We believe in promoting talent and are excited to be a part of this programme’s ongoing success.”
