Vapour win the latest Huddersfield Town Shooting Stars Award in association with Lucas Lee & Partners.

Established in 2013, Vapour’s aim was to provide agile business communications services without the ‘baggage’ and corporate restraints typically imposed by competitors. The mission fast became reality, with Vapour attracting clients large and small from throughout the UK.

Rather than diluting the team’s expertise and ‘dabbling’ in varied strands of the IT sector, Vapour has developed three key product suites – secure network connectivity, voice communications and storage.

Celebrating its fifth anniversary in July 2018, the company now has over 100 customers, 33 employees, £4m investment under its belt and sights set on £12m turnover by 2020. CEO Tim Mercer also recently announced a £10m fund to acquire other organisations in the IT and mobile communications industry, to fuel Vapour’s ‘buy and build’ strategy. The company’s Betfred contract win has also dominated headlines in recent months.

Vapour is in the running for a number of awards including the Comms Business Award Mid-Market

Reseller of the Year and the CRN Sales & Marketing Awards New Business Win, with Tim also a finalist for Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year.

Commenting on the news that Vapour had scooped the Shooting Stars Award, Tim said:

“To be independently recognised by a renowned local business award scheme, is a huge credit to our team.

“Technological innovation lies at the core of what we do, and our commitment to pushing boundaries with WebRTC capabilities, means we now enjoy a great reputation within the IT world.

“But without a doubt, the company is becoming increasingly successful because of our people, so I am delighted that their efforts have been acknowledged by Huddersfield Town and Lucas Lee & Partners.”

Chris Lee Managing Director of Lucas Lee commented:

“It’s fantastic to see a local business beating of competition, from more established players in the industry to win a contract with a company the size of BETFRED… a bit like Huddersfield Town in the Premier League!

“With Vapour about to celebrate their fifth birthday next month it really is a good time for them, with more large contracts schedule for the future, I wish Tim and all the team the very best.”
