Legends, supporters and businesses came together on Wednesday for the 2014 Huddersfield Town Golf Day, sponsored by Burton Safes.
Club Ambassador Andy Booth had plenty to celebrate at the end of the 18 holes, with his ‘Team Booth’ overcoming Commercial Director Sean Jarvis’ squad in a competitive match up.
Guests were welcomed to Dewsbury District Golf Club on the morning with breakfast sandwiches, tea and coffee before the draw for the holes began.
Each Captain – Booth and Jarvis – randomly drew a hole for their team to start on, as well as selecting players at random to form their teams.
As well as the overall ‘Booth vs. Jarvis’ contest, there were other prizes for the golfers to compete for throughout the day.
‘Longest Drive’ was won by Dave Weston, whereas Jim from Heineken had the straightest drive; Chris Lister won the ‘Nearest the Pin in 2’ contest, whereas Gary Wagstaff got nearest to the pin in the Burton Safes-sponsored contest.
Heineken also sponsored a ‘Nearest the Star’ contest, which was won by Chris Lister, whereas every competitor had the chance to match themselves up against professional golfer Kelly Tidy in a ‘Beat the Pro’ hole!
The individual team prize was won by the side from club partner Andy Thornton, closely followed by Absolute Warehouse’s team one.
Katie Barraclough from Huddersfield Town commented:
“I would like to thank everyone that took part in this year’s Huddersfield Town Golf Day; your support of the Club is truly appreciated. Everyone had a really enjoyable day on the course – despite bouts of inclement weather!
“I would like to extend a special thank you to John Smith’s, Haighs Farm Shop, Ice Valley and iPro for supporting the halfway houses and Rekorderlig for sponsoring the buggies.
“I’d also like to thank our hole sponsors on the day; Burton Safes, Absolute Warehouse Holdings, Andy Thornton, Towndoor and Worthington Brown. Without the support of partners and other businesses, events like this would not be possible.”
