Over 250 people left the John Smith’s Stadium on Friday 9 June 2017 with a full insight into the Ian Wright’s career at Huddersfield Town’s ‘An Evening With’ event.

The former Arsenal and England striker discussed at the event, which was held in association with See It Now Sports, how he almost turned down the chance of becoming a professional footballer to stay as a labourer.

During the hour-long event, Ian Wright also revealed his disappointment of never representing his country in a major tournament.

Attendees quizzed the 53 year-old about his career with Arsenal, what it was like to be a TV pundit and about the changes in modern day football.

The event saw 271 people in attendance as well as interest from local businesses.

Huddersfield Town’s Commercial Manager for Advertising and Events, Marc Mitchell commented:

“First of all I would like to thank Ian Wright for coming to the event and making it a memorable one for everyone who attended.

“As you can see when he’s a pundit on television, he’s an incredibly engaging speaker and was typically forthright with his views and opinions.

“It was really interesting to hear a number of his stories from his playing days and it’s amazing to think he nearly turned down the opportunity to become a professional footballer.

“The event was a huge success and I would like to thank our Club Partner See It Now Sports for making this possible.”

Come to the Club’s next event ‘Town at the Races’ there are both tickets and sponsorship opportunities available.
