Three long-term members of the Huddersfield Hundred clubbed together to put on a special charity ball raising £18,000 for three local charities.
The ‘Blues Charity Ball’ was held on Saturday 16 February 2019 at Manor House, Lindley, hosted by John Walton Machine Tools, See It Now Sports and Bastion Estates.
Guests enjoyed a Chicago-themed evening that included a three-course meal and entertainment provided by Blues Brothers tribute band ‘Birmingham Blues Brothers’ impressing with their set list of R&B, Soul and Blues Tunes.
All money raised from the evening was shared between three great local charities namely The Jo Cox Foundation, The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust and Hollybank Trust
The fundraising efforts on the evening included a live auction, a silent auction and a raffle with some of the top prizes including a holiday courtesy of Sean Jarvis, a Bespoke Suit courtesy of Owen Scott and Golf & Overnight stay at Woodsome Golf Club.
Huddersfield Town’s Commercial Manager John Williams was MC on an evening full of fun and laughter, all in aid of three great causes.
Huddersfield Town Commercial Director, Sean Jarvis commented:
“What a fantastic evening we had at this year’s Blues Charity Ball raising money for three excellent local charities, all of which do great work that benefits people within our local area.
“It makes me feel immensely proud of our community when you see our local businesses pull together in aid of three local charities who all equally do fantastic work.
“I’d like to extend a special thanks to John Walton, See it Now Sports and Bastion Estates for making this event happen and extend my thanks to every business who donated money and prizes.”

“On behalf of The Jo Cox Foundation, I would like to say a huge Thank You to the organisers and to everyone who attended the HTAFC Blues Ball in February.
“It was a fantastic evening and the money raised will enable us to continue our important work on the issues Jo cared about, such as loneliness and building strong, compassionate communities, including organising and supporting events taking place as part of our national Great Get Together campaign in June, on what would have been Jo’s birthday. Thank you so much to everyone for their hard work and generosity”.
Julie McNaughton, Head of Fundraising at Hollybank said:
“Hollybank cares for profoundly disabled babies, children, young people and adults. Technology is used for communication within our residential homes, day service, therapy centre, nursery and school.
“The money raised from The Ball is being used to buy equipment for one of our homes in Mirfield. We are heavily reliant on Fundraising and to receive such a fabulous amount of money from this great event is just wonderful. Our sincere thanks to everyone for their generosity and support.”
Helen Mervill, Fundraising Manager at The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust commented:
“A huge thank you on behalf of the Laura Crane team and the young patients we support to the team behind the Charity Blues Ball; for their tremendous support and for the astonishing amount of money raised. These funds will be directed to pioneering research we are funding at the University of Huddersfield, that will ultimately provide an alternative cancer treatment for young people without harmful side-effects.
“We would like to thank the three Huddersfield Hundred Partners; Bastion Estates, See It Now Sports and John Walton Limited for their time and dedication in organising the event and to Huddersfield Town for their contribution including event host John Williams. The event was superb from start to finish and it was a real privilege to be supported alongside the Jo Cox Foundation and Hollybank Trust.”
