In the red corner, there will be an experienced amateur boxer who was once National School Boy Champion with 94 fights under his belt. In the blue and white corner, an ex-footballer called Andy Booth!
On Friday 15 November, boxing and football will come together at the John Smith’s Stadium for ‘Boothy’s Boxing Night’, which will feature a special one-off exhibition match between Town’s Club Ambassador and Mark Reynolds, owner of Rawthorpe Amateur Boxing Club.
After Andy takes on the experienced boxing professional in his maiden bout, Town cult hero Darren Bullock will step into the ring to see if his combative on-the-field style translates well to the squared circle!
Attendees will enjoy a three course meal and enjoy bouts featuring boxers from Rawthorpe Amateur Boxing Club before the main event of the evening, which will see Town legends Booth and Bullock take to the ring against Rawthorpe’s boxing instructor.
Ahead of his boxing debut, Boothy told htafccommercial.com:
“This event is a first for Huddersfield Town – and a first for me too!
“I have absolutely no experience when it comes to boxing, but Mark has promised to go easy on me in our exhibition match. I’m a little nervous, but I don’t imagine that will be a problem for ‘Bully’ when he steps in for the second round!
“We’ve got lots planned for this night that should make it a thoroughly entertaining evening for everyone that comes down.”
