The next chapter in the Chairman’s Lunch Event Calendar will see us taking guests through the tales of being a captain.
The event is taking place on Friday 8 December 2017 at the John Smith’s Stadium and is proudly sponsored by Lucas Lee & Partners.
The lunch has previously featured Huddersfield Town’s Dean Hoyle, CEO of Liverpool Ian Ayre, Wigan Athletic Chairman David Sharpe, Oldham’s Simon Corney and controversial Blackpool Chairman Karl Oyston to name but a few.
The guests will be announced in due course but the line-up will represent different sports and some names you should recognise.
Jason Robinson OBE – Jason Robinson OBE is the first confirmed guest to join Commercial Director Sean Jarvis on stage to discuss his amazing career, which saw him represent England in both Rugby Union and Rugby League. One of only a handful of dual-code rugby internationals, Jason will discuss his amazing sporting career as well as his experiences off the field following his retirement – as well as his soft spot for Huddersfield Town!
Tyrone Nurse – Tyrone Nurse will discuss his career as a Boxer, which saw him lift the British super lightweight title in 2015. The 27-year-old from Huddersfield, who won 35 out of 40 fights, will be able to give an insight on what it’s like in the ring.
Andrew Gale – Andrew Gale, who recently visited Huddersfield Town’s Academy, will also join Sean Jarvis on stage to discuss his role as First XI Coach of Yorkshire County Cricket Club. ‘Galey’ is not only a big Huddersfield Town fan but was also the first Yorkshire Cricket Club Captain to lift the LV County Championship for 13 years in 2014!
Eorl Crabtree – former Huddersfield Giants prop Eorl Crabtree will be at the event. The 35-year-old retired from Rugby League on 7 November 2016 ending his 16-year playing career with the Giants. The one-man club featured over 400 times for the Giants and will be able to give an insight into playing the sport and playing for his country, which he represented on 14 occasions.
Alex Keighley – Golfer Alex Keighley will also put an interesting spin on leadership at the event after competing in the European Tour during her career. Alex now teaches golf to people and youngsters in Huddersfield, so she will be able to discuss her best methods of helping people progress and develop.
Jessica Watson – Jess Watson was appointed as Yorkshire County Cricket’s Women’s First Team Captain in 2017 after rising through the Youth rankings at the Cricket Club. She will be able to discuss her new role and what she has learnt since captaining YCC’s women
Trevor Cherry – Former Huddersfield Town and England defender Trevor Cherry was the final captain to be announced. The now- 69-year-old started his career at Huddersfield Town at the age of just 14 before signing a professional deal just three years later. After impressing as a youngster, Cherry quickly became a permanent fixture in the Town line-up and was part of the side that last achieved promotion to the top-flight. He went on to make 188 appearances for Town scoring 12 goals before joining Leeds United. It was during his time at Leeds where he made his England debut on 24 March 1976 against Wales before going on to earn 27 caps.
Prior to the Q&A, guests will also enjoy an arrival drink and two course lunch. The dress code for this event is lounge suits.
